Jack Youngerman Cleaning the Front of His Loft on Coenties Slip, 20 July 1957 is one of Indiana’s works depicting daily life on Coenties Slip, where he lived alongside artists such as Agnes Martin, Ellsworth Kelly, and Jack Youngerman. Youngerman lived at 27 Coenties Slip with his wife, the actress Delphine Seyrig, and their son Duncan. In the winter of 1957 Indiana and Youngerman offered life-drawing classes on the first floor of the building, under the auspices of the Coenties Slip Workshop.
