Silver Bridge is one of four paintings by Indiana which reference Joseph Stella's 1917 painting of the Brooklyn Bridge and Hart Crane's 1930 epic "To Brooklyn Bridge." This work remained in the artist's collection until the late 1990s, and in 1998, prior to the work traveling to Nice for his retrospective, he revisited the painting and added the silver.
Silver Bridge is currently on display in Robert Indiana: The Sweet Mystery, at the Procuratie Vecchie, Venice.
