Four Diamond Peace, a diamond shaped painting comprised of four panels, measuring 101 by 101 inches overall. The panels have a blue ground, and each panel is dominated by a pink peace sign facing upwards surrounded by a dark blue ring with red outlines. The rings containing text in red, reading, clockwise from top: "Where Oh Where Flees Peace," "Whither Has Peace Gone," "Whereabouts Hides Peace," and "Why Oh Why Has Peace Fled." Pink bands have been painted from the edge of the ring to the corner of each panel.

Description

Indiana’s Peace Paintings are a series of 24 works created as a response to 9/11. Four Diamond Peace Diamond is one of three four-panel works, and the largest in the series. Unlike the other two four-panel works, which serve as hopeful rallying cries for peace, Four Diamond Peace Diamond takes the more cynical view of the rest of the series, lamenting the loss of peace, questioning where it has fled, where it is hidden.
