Homage to Marilyn Monroe, at the Sidney Janis Gallery, was a benefit for the Association for Mentally Ill Children in Manhattan, Inc. Indiana painted The Metamorphosis of Norma Jean Mortenson (1967) for the exhibition, which was organized to mark the fifth anniversary of Monroe’s death, and included the work of nearly fifty artists.
