Indiana’s The Black Diamond American Dream #2 (1962) was included in the International Exhibition of the New Realists at the Sidney Janis Gallery, New York. The painting was sold in early 1963 to Ambassador William A. M. Burden, the chairman of the board of trustees of the Museum of Modern Art.
