Indiana's The American Gas Works (1961–62) is currently on display in the exhibition Picasso and the 20th Century Masters: Museum Ludwig Collection, at My Art Museum in Seoul, South Korea. The painting was shown in Japan in 2022, in the exhibition Museum Ludwig, Cologne—History of a Collection with Civic Commitments, held at The National Art Center, Tokyo (June 29–September 26), and the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, Japan (October 14, 2022–January 22, 2023).
