Indiana's polychrome aluminum Imperial LOVE employs the color scheme of his original Imperial LOVE, a red and blue painting from 1966 that made its debut at the Stable Gallery, in what became known as the "LOVE Show." The sculpture was included in Love Long: Robert Indiana and Asia, an exhibition at the Asia Society, Hong Kong, held from February 7–July 15, 2018. More recently, the sculpture was seen at Frieze Sculpture, Regent's Park, London, September 14–November 13, 2022.
