The Ginkgo Ài series includes twelve small canvases in which the Mandarin character for Love, “Ài,” is rendered in two different fonts in a black double-ginkgo leaf. This yellow/red version was exhibited in Indiana's first solo show in Italy, Robert Indiana a Milano, at the Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea, Milan, July 4–September 14, 2008. It was also shown in the artist's first exhibition in Hong Kong, Love Long: Robert Indiana and Asia, at the Asia Society, February 7–July 15, 2018.
