Ludwig Goes Pop brought together one of the world’s most significant holdings of Pop art, the collection of the German industrialists Peter and Irene Ludwig. Around 100 works from six different institutions associated with the Ludwigs were exhibited.  Indiana's paintings The American Gas Works (1961–62), The Big 8 (1962), USA 666 II (1966–67), Love Rising (The Black and White Love) (1968), and Der Mond – Die Braunschaft (1969), as well as the sculpture Zig (1960–62), were included.

The exhibition traveld to the Museum Moderne Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, Vienna, February 12–September 13, 2015, and the Ludwig Múzeum, Budapest, Hungary, October 9, 2015–January 3, 2016, as Ludwig Goes Pop + The East Side Story.
